So we made it back on Amtrak from Oregon, where we spent a long weekend with our dear friends, Anne and Amit. Was a splendid trip, and Evelyn continues to amaze us with her wonderfulness. 17+ hours on the train to get there and the return trip turned out taking even longer because our train ran into a pickup. Evelyn got to see the ocean near Florence and shrieked with delight as she ran across the sand in the sling with Heather. We came across Evelyn's name carved into the rock and couldn't believe it-- we were convinced that Anne and Amit had been there before and done it... Enjoyed hanging out in Eugene; the Saturday market, some used kids' stuff stores, fondue made by Anne and Amit, REI, the Hideaway bakery, some truly wonderful time in Anne and Amit's apartment, and many more great moments.
Evelyn is more active each day- rolling this way and that. She seems immensely pleased with herself and her surroundings. She really seems to take everything in as she gazes around and reaches for whatever is near. Recently she has taken a huge liking to her feet. It's so neat to watch her grow and see her develop into a lovely little person. She is so great!
Oh sweet, I didn't know you had a blog! Nice shades, Heather. Evelyn's face reminds me of some of the women in Van Eck paintings. Your train hit the truck right next to where I was born, eh.
ReplyDeleteOh where to begin. The one of Heather holding Evelyn in the sling will be one for the ages. Perhaps one of the most perfect mother/daughter pictures I have ever seen! It doesn't hurt that Evelyn has developed such a sweet chubby chicken face...
ReplyDeleteTodd, I love the one with Evelyn's name! You look as thrilled as she does fascinated.
The other two train pics are fantastic. Great marketing materials for Amtrak to bring a station to every city! And Hutterites in the background, to boot!!
